Mario Vitolo, chef and eldest son of current owners Emilio Sr. and Lourdes, attributes their enduring success to these steadfast values. When husband and wife Emilio Sr. Vitolo and Lourdes Vitolo bought the restaurant, Emilio Sr., who is a lifelong baker and cook, brought in the flavors of his native Naples to Manhattan to every dish. Today, he can often be found at his favorite table near the front of the restaurant, greeting both longtime fans and first-time visitors with the hospitality that has made Ballato a beloved New York City fixture.
